I’ve been busy writing away, as you do, and I’ve been hit with two major plot developments.
A character I thought wasn’t gonna do much has now suddenly become a major player and oof! My brain literally exploded when I realised what was going to happen.
Before now I haven’t been much of an outliner, I flew by the seat of my pants and held on for dear fucking life. This time though, I sketched out a skeleton and could see exactly where I need to go.
And yet, even with an outline I’m still having characters rock up like, “yeah, sorry, I’m about to just weave into your story like a drunk stumbling down the street.”
What the hell?
I mean, it works, the character fits what I was doing but dammit, can they just not casually toss a plot bomb on me and then sit there, smirking like they’ve just been waiting for me to catch up?!
Oh yeah, I’m 25k words in and climbing. I hope other characters behave themselves or I’ll have a helluva time tying all this together.
