It’s been a long ass week and the heat hasn’t been helping at all. I don’t do well in anything above 12-14°C and it’s hardly been less than than 20°C most of the week. I want my rain, dammit.
Anyway, I’ve been steadily working away on Veil Born and yesterday, I hit the magic 40k. I’m officially a third of the way to my planned 120k word count. I’m damn proud of myself.
I’ve written short stories before, hell, I might even tidy them up and publish them one day, but I haven’t written this many words in a fucking long time and boy do I feel rusty as shit.
I’m so glad I outlined the story this time because at this point, I’m pretty sure I’d have lost track of the subplots (I’m at five different ones so far that all have to converge), and tying them all into the main plot would have had me face palming so hard my ancestors would feel it.
I did learn about something called ‘the middle slump’ though in typically Erin fashion. I slammed right into it and was like, “huh? Where the hell did the spark go?!”
I feel like I should’ve remembered about that being a thing before now.
So yeah, that’s pretty much where I’m at.
Hopefully you’re all having a good week and the heat hasn’t melted you yet. I hope you WIPs are coming along nicely too!
